For many years, I tried to get fit and healthy but would always find myself back at square one. I tried everything – I calorie counted, I dieted, I weighed my food, I weighed myself, I joined slimming clubs, I joined the gym – it didn’t matter. No matter what I did, I always managed to go back to square one.
One day, I saw an ad in a newspaper, and I thought, 'I know this is going to be the answer to my problems.' It is to train as a fitness and nutrition coach. So, I did the course, I got healthy, and I started to feel really good. I started to feel great in my clothes, my relationships improved, and the frustrated feelings I had inside of myself left.
The course wasn’t even over three weeks, and all my old habits started to creep back in. By chance, I bumped into one of my former coaches, and we went for coffee. I told him how desperate I felt, that I was beginning to go right back to square one. He said something to me that I’ll never forget. He said, 'Jessica, I’ve never met somebody that’s so hard on themselves. Think of it like the foundations of a house – the house will always crumble if you don’t have the foundations in place. Your lack of self-love is stopping you from getting where you want to be.'
And so, I went on my journey of transformation. This is a transformation I want to share with you in today’s episode. I share with you how to silence your inner critic, five steps that I use all of the time. Click play and let’s dive in.

I used to think getting fit and healthy was about eating less and moving more. How wrong I was. What a hardline statement that is. Where is the compassion and kindness? For many of us, we have struggled to be fit and healthy for so many reasons. So many painful reasons that lead us to unhealthy habits. I turned to food for comfort because I was struggling with so many things. I felt anxious and stressed out, I was lonely, had no boundaries, I had very low self-esteem, and there were things from my past I needed to learn how to let go of... The last thing I needed was someone telling me to eat less and move more. Today's episode is a gentle reminder that getting fit and healthy isn't about eating less and moving more...
